Drapes All Around

26.7.10

There is nothing quite like shopping in a well organized and de-congested vintage shop. One doesn't have to dig through pile upon pile of rubble just to find that one hidden gem...if you're lucky. Such was the case with this blouse. I found it right at the entrance of the shop just staring at me, and I knew I had to have it. It has the most beautiful bead work all over, and the ruffled sheer sleeves helped seal the deal. I paired it with a denim skirt from Mango. Now, I'm usually not too keen on jean skirts, but this is a little bit more than just a  skirt. This skirt gets me. It's a fun little wraparound with a braided belt along the waistline, and drapes down the front. All disinterest for denim skirts out the door....

Yesterday was the season 4 premiere of Mad Men. As if I hadn't waited long enough for the premier, I was too busy having a sushi eat off/ coldplay sing off/ lady gaga dance off to watch it during the regular time slot. I ended up staying awake till the early hours of the morning so I could catch the re-runs. At the risk of ruining it for those who are yet to see it, I'll refrain from saying all I want to. But I would have you know that secretary-turned-copy-writer Peggy is looking better than ever. She has a new haircut and is looking ever so lovely in her new clothes. The decor is also amazing with pops of vibrant colour everywhere. Love it!

So...was anyone else as excited about the show as I was? What did you think of the episode?

Hope you had all had a pleasant weekend. Thank you for your sweet comments, and a very warm welcome to my new followers :). I'm slowly making my rounds through all your blogs. Bear with me.

So, I've been over denim skirts for a while now, I just feel as if I'm too old for them, but I love this one. It's such an interesting twist!

I love the top and the skirt--I'm not usually a denim skirt fan either, but that's because most denim skirts don't look like this one!

In preparation for the season premiere last night, I watched every episode in all three seasons on DVD... Let's just say I'm a big fan. :D I keep wanting to call out, "John! Marsha!"

Lovely! I really like that blouse, definitely a vintage gem! It's gorgeous. I'm not overly keen on denim skirts but if I was to buy one it would look something like this! It's a nice twist on the classic design.

@Valerie, Lo Alario, duckalicious, Diogo Sc & Lady Vanished: Thanks so much for following. Means a lot :)

@Jenni: ahaha! That is true dedication. I was a little baffled by the John, Marsha dialogue. But it all made sense after some time on Google

@Rebecca: Thanks :). You could create a little diversion by wearing it with a very loose top! I often end up with pieces I can never even wear.

@Chris: I find the most beautiful and unique pieces at vintage boutiques. You might be pleasantly surprised

@Emmy & Ruta: I do recommend it...highly ;)

@Shanah: I hope I get to see Portugal too! I got these from a boutique in Paris. I forget the name, by I believe it was in the Latin Quarter :S. I'll let you know if I spot something similar online somewhere

@Alyspank: You're very welcome hun. Anytime!

@Emily: I'm remaining tight-lipped ;)

@Spence: I know! It can become a little tiresome. I love that you call it fate. Might have to go with that attitude too actually
